Heading closer to the summer holidays we have so much to share with you about what we have been up to and the exciting events yet to come!
We have of course taken advantage of the nice weather to organise free meet ups with you. Our latest have been our summer solstice roll out across Leeds city centre and our skate park meet up at Horsforth park. Keep an eye out on our events page for more meet ups and RSVP for meet up arrangements and last minute changes.
RGG’s K-pop disco organised and run by Laura was fantastic, it has been great receiving so much feedback. The atmosphere was so fun and welcoming, with everyone embracing this new theme. Thank you so much to everyone who attended.
Summer Skate Picnic 2023
Thank you so much from everyone in the Roller Girl Gang team for joining us in our favourite event of the summer. The Annual Summer Picnic was absolutely electric and we are already buzzing with ideas for next years picnic and events we have on the way.
After a rainy week, we welcomed the sunshine which gave each skater full use of the track and access to all our workshops 🙂
When not relaxing on the grass to enjoy their picnic or skating down the track, lovely skaters (on all types of wheels) took part in skating workshops, an amazing skater’s parade and the skater’s awards. When taking a break from their wheels in the sunshine, skaters could channel the fluidity of Poi, at Mel’s Poi Workshop and get creative, making mersherming with Emily and Sophie’s Tie Dye Workshop.
If you missed this one, never fear, we’ll be back next year! But if you understandably can’t wait that long, read below to see what awesome events we have coming up.
Upcoming Events
London’s Calling!!
We love teaming up with the fabulous Emma and Sarah from ‘Roll Happy’ based in London. They have been kind enough to visit us in Leeds to deliver fantastic artistic skating workshops. Sunday 16th July Mel is heading to Hackney to visit our Roll Happy friends to deliver two 60 minute Roller Girl Gang workshops, teaching the skaters of Hackney her fun filled showstopper workshop!
This iconic routine is an amazing confidence builder for any skater, no prior roller dance knowledge is needed, Mel will breakdown all the moves and help you transition between each step.
In between the workshops there is a 60 minute social skate, which is the perfect opportunity to practice, meet your fellow skates or pop over to the Roller Girl Gang Pop-up Shop run by Mel to choose yourself some skate goodies! If you already know what you would like from the shop or you’d like a larger item, you can buy in advance to collect at the workshop social skate. Simply place your order through the RGG website, select “Collect at RGG Store” and add a note saying you’d like to collect it from Mel’s Roll Happy Hackney Workshop on 16th July.
Book your tickets now! We’d love to see you there and if you’re yet to give artistic skating a go, be sure to book a class with the wonderful Roll Happy <3 We can’t wait to see them back in Leeds for another workshop soon.
