BUDDY WISDOM SPENT WEEKENDS FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS GIVING PEOPLE A PLACE TO GO AS THEY WERE GROWING UP. IT WAS AT A SKATING RINK YEARS AGO IN FORT WORTH WHERE DORIS WISDOM MET HER FUTURE HUSBAND. SHE NEVER IMAGINED AT THE TIME THAT THEY WOULD END UP OWNING ONE. HE LIVED UP HERE.
THIS WITH OUR LIFE. BUDDY LOST HIS LIFE THIS WEEK. HE WAS HIT BY A CAR WHILE WALKING ACROSS THE STREET NEAR HIS HOME IN GRANBURY. HE SPENT 4 DECADES WATCHING KIDS TRACK THEIR WAY AROUND THE WOODEN FLOOR AND OVERSEEING CLUMSY LIMBO CONTESTS. SKATING RINGS HAVE DISAPPEARED OVER THE YEARS BUT IT TURNS OUT
NO ONE HAD FORGOTTEN BUDDY. IT WAS HIS PERSONALITY AND THE LOVE HE HAD FOR HIS COMMUNITY. IT STARTED WITH FACEBOOK MESSAGES AND THEN FLOWERS AND CALLS AND CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY. I AM SO THANKFUL MY MOM AND I — AND MY BROTHER COULD SHARE HIM WITH EVERYBODY.
