Lord because it’s all of our responsibilities right right they’re going to this church and we take it as their our responsibility to be a blessing to them to speak words of encouragement to them to let them know that hey you know it’s going to be all
Right God is with you and so this is Elena Grace and Jeremiah and so I want to pray for them but I want to pray for them according according to their names yes so Ellena is Ellena Grace and her name means Shining Light and goodness God’s goodness God’s

Going to be great so don’t miss that bring your family make some holiday memories with us so anyway well I have the honor today of sharing the offering teaching with you yay so excited well about six almost six years ago I moved uh back home to Louisiana and uh before that I was
Living in the Florida Keys I know and um I was I was actually um working on my certification to become a a teacher in in Florida and in the mean time I worked as a par professional and when I got my assignment I was so excited because I’m
A math person and I got assigned to the 8th grade math class and I was yes so uh I was working with a particular student that was struggling with some equations and so the teacher asked me to take him to the side and so I was working with
Him we were kind of breaking it down he was with me got the answer went back into the classroom and the teacher started calling out the answers and we were proud pretty proud of ourselves we got all of them right yay that’s a big feat in itself but
Anyway the teacher starts writing the problems on the board for those that didn’t understand and as she’s writing on the chalkboard marker board sorry I’m old school on the marker board uh I realized that the whole way that I had taught him to do the problem was totally
Not the same know new math new math Common Core I don’t know what it was but it was not what I showed him and he looked at me kind of confused and I’m like whatever we talked about for the past 20 minutes just pretend that never happened erase that from your mind it
Never happens so anyway uh we got that all straightened out he actually you know passed 8th grade and passed math and you know happy ending but anyway so the the Bible is actually full of mathematical situations I’m going to look at one of those today so open your
Bibles to 2 Kings chapter 4 and I’m reading from the Amplified Bible all right so it says now one of the wives of a man of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elijah for help saying your servant my husband is dead and you know that your servant
Reverently feared the Lord but the Creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves in payment for the loan Elisha said to her what shall I do for you tell me what do you have of value in your house now uh I’m going to paint a
Picture for you and kind of create create a little visual here I’m going to use some of my youth is that okay all right so I’m going to ask some of my youth to come forward as uh we tell the story of uh the woman with the oil so
She comes she goes back in her house comes out with a small bottle of oil and she goes up to Elijah and Elijah gives her very specific instructions and she trusted in Elisha she was a Believer and she followed them to a tea and so part
Of the instruction was he told her to go out into the community and to all her neighbors and gather vessels so these are the my two sons they look just like me don’t they right so they went out into the community and they started Gathering
Vessels and so uh if you have a vessel stand up stand up and so all he went to all the neighbors and they were Gathering one by one empty vessels and his their her community was so generous they just provided now I’m going to gather just a few but I want you to
Imagine her room started filling up with empty containers all different shapes and sizes uh based on what the people had to offer they were so generous okay got it put it there the big daddy one you might have to put him right there so now the oil was uh very
Expensive uh and even the small amount that she had you know was was very costly oil was very labor intensive to produce especially the the purest kind and uh oh my my son’s went away but that’s okay uh we got this it’s okay so she she Elijah told
Her to go into to the room and shut the door with her two sons and uh one by one she started filling up the containers with oil from that little bitty jar she filled each one all the way up to the rim now back in those days they used oil
For different things they used it for uh cooking they used it for Cosmetics they used it for anointing kings and queens and uh even uh anointing the Dead even this big giant one and I’m sure the sons were like uh what’s going on here so she
Filled each and every one and when she got to the last one we’re going to go to verse six verse six says when the containers were all full she said to her son bring me another container and he said to her there is not a one left then the oil stopped
Multiplying so how many of you have actually heard this story before yeah it’s a really common one it’s actually one of my favorites um and but recently I was reading it and I just kind of saw it in a different light so I always kind
Of focused on the oil and Elisha and you know the multiplication and all that kind of stuff but this time I I realized that there was a a direct correlation between the amount of oil that was multiplied and the amount of containers that the community gave
So CU you notice as soon as she ran out of the containers she ran out of oil but in the meantime it kept flowing and so I was like hm there’s something to that see the miracle is really not so much about the oil now we know God was the
One that multiplied the oil and you know he actually we’ll see in the story he’s set her sons free but the miracle was really in the community coming together and giving and being the vessels where the oil was poured that’s right right so anyway we look in verse
7 and says um then she came and told the man of God he said go sell the oil and pay your debt and you your sons can live on the rest so not only did she have enough money when she sold all the oil to pay her debt but she had enough money
To live the rest of her life herself and even her two sons wow now that sounds like a math problem to me not a problem really a math solution to me so it’s Faith plus Community equals multiplication right right Faith plus Community equals multiplication and we’ve actually experienced it right here
In our own church and you know I I I thought wow what might have happened had she not been part of a generous community and they would have only given maybe three containers how different that story would have been but thank God that she had a community that loved her and
Supported her and and trusted God and like the woman here I am so grateful that I have a community in you that love God trust God and y’all are so incredibly generous we would seen you know the projects like the the children’s area that just you know it’s
Just more than I could have even imagined you know and y’all are so generous with the community that year after year you know you give towards the our Thanksgiving Outreach year after year you give towards our our Christmas Outreach we give toys to the community I
Just thank you I thank you for your prayers thank y’all for praying for my mom last week that really touched our heart so much she’s actually doing better she’s improving so thank y’all thank y’all we had a wonderful conversation and she was like non-verbal when she went into the
Hospital that’s how how bad she was but she was speaking we were talking about God last night it was just a beautiful time and I know it’s a direct result of our community our church amen thank you so much so as we give today uh I want
You to stand on that promise for the the 30 60 you know what stand on the H hundredfold today right that we are a community that believes in God and we stand on his promises and we know his promises are true we’re believing for aund full return on your giving today so

This morning I spoke to miss Kathy and she’s done a phenomenal phenomenal job at going through the book of Romans and on Wednesday she’s going through the book of Ephesians and that’s my favorite kind of preaching is called expository preaching when you’re going verse by verse chapter by chapter so you can get
The meat of it all it’s a little different than thematical preaching so she’s done a phenomenal job and I said look if you want I’ll just follow you there I’ll just go with Romans and I can leave off I can start off where she left off and when she comes back she she’ll

Father this service in the name of Jesus amen amen before I begin uh have a little story disclaimer to share with you because the last time I preached on Romans was a very challenging um situation when I was in prison ministry on Wednesdays was the Bible study and
Many times as far as us as far as far as me and Believers many times when we’re going chapter by chapter first by verse we have the tendency to probably want to get bored not understanding the gravity of it all right so when I was going through this Bible study with these men
We were in the Pod not on the church service where there’s a Pulpit and I I had that on Sundays but this is during the pods brother Chris knows all about this uh he went with me he’s the one who started me off and um during the Pod
Sessions you’re in the congregation with all of them they’re doing all of their daily things daily routines so just imagine this we’re pre I’m preaching on Romans we’re speaking on Romans going you know doing our dialect interactions about Romans and everything that has but right next to us there’s a table many
Tables but right next to us the guys are playing dominoes right we know how loud that can be so they’re sitting there yelling at each other cursing doing everything slamming The Dominoes on the floor I’m and on the table and just smacking it right on the corner is
Playing a a basketball games going on so they’re yelling at that also right behind me the guys are trying to work out but this is not wreck time so they’re standing on top of their tables jumping up to the second tier doing pull-ups and right to my left there’s the bathroom all
Open so imagine trying to preach that in that atmosphere right and on top of it all as I’m speaking to the men some of the guys eyes are just going back they’re just they’re just done I don’t know what they’ve done gone through that day but they were exhausted they were
Tired right they were starting to get sleep I’m like this is not going anywhere so I said hold on guys let’s just stop for a second I know that it’s a a bit hard to listen to with everything going on right now so I said let’s stop for just one second we
Know we’re reading something very important so let’s let’s let’s take it back for a second I want I want to share something with you I said what would you do if your lawyer walked in here and said I found a clause in your case I found a critical
Statement that if we just say it just right if we study it there’s a chance that you can go free I’m not sure yet but if we reason with one another about this clause you might be set free but then the lawyer takes this attitude and says you
Know what I don’t really understand it it’s a little boring so why don’t I just revisit in about six months and if I don’t just get it right maybe the next six months and if it’s still not there don’t worry about it take your time and read maybe
Another six months I said what would you do how would you feel and they said man I’d grab that lawyer I wouldn’t let him leave I’d hold him to this table and said you better read this with me because my Liberty is at stake come on
My life is at stake if I don’t understand exactly what this Clause says that’s what we’re going to do this morning amen that’s what we’re doing this [Applause] morning so with that being said let’s start off Romans 818 through 21 we’ll see how far I can get down the
Chapter for for I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed in us for the eagerly awaiting creation awaits the revealing of the Sons and Daughters of God for the creation was subjected to futility not willingly but because of
