Tonight, a Strongsville family is bravely talking to us about the tragic loss of their four year old daughter just days ago. They are continuing now to seek answers as to what went wrong. But now they’re also hoping to encourage other families, please advocate for your Children, particularly when it comes to their health.
Our Isabel Lawrence sat down with his parents. Here’s Macy’s story, the blonde hair to the stage presence. Four year old Maisie Schmidt could give her favorite singer Taylor Swift and her Eras tour a run for her money. She was watching it daily
And we’ll just say that she’s gonna be like her one day. So can I get to be? This was never how her family thought Maisie would have her moment of fame. This is so hard to believe that’s what is taking so fast. Last week, Maisie came down with cold symptoms.
Her family took her to urgent care and when she didn’t get better to the er, she was transferred to Rainbow Babies and children’s where she was intubated and ultimately put on ECMO, we just, we were hoping for the best. We continued saying, ok, she’s going to get better. She’s going to get better.
Maisie passed away on Tuesday. Her father, Patrick explaining she was fighting the human metapneumovirus which causes symptoms similar to a cold. Then staph and pneumonia in the hospital before suffering a stroke. But Patrick says Maisie’s health issues started long before this week when she got sick. She got sick.
It wasn’t normal for her every time they would just send us home and say there’s, there’s nothing wrong with her. But of course, me and mom, we thought differently. I have so many notes in trying to figure it out. We never did figure it out. Um I just
A year and a half old Patrick says they took Maisie to different doctors trying to figure out what was wrong. Now, they’re left with questions about what they believe was some kind of underlying issue for a little girl. They call empathetic, loving and caring, little kitty that she got when
She was at the doctor, her best friend, eight year old brother Canaan and the rest of the family treasuring the memories and sharing this message with other families, do what’s best for your kid. Well, again, Maisie’s family says they wanted to share their story to encourage
Other parents to advocate for their kids and to pay attention. They told me they felt something was wrong when Maisie was always under the weather or would be out of breath more than the other kids. The family will now undergo genetic testing, hoping to find some answers.
We do have information on the family’s go fund me and funeral arrangements on our website. That’s wkyc.com. This is so important to talk about it. Isabel. Thank you for bringing us that.
