TR Che back to Fox he’s got this was a huge moment in the NHL season and I can’t believe how crazy this game was but I’m getting ahead of myself let me go back and first give some context the New York Rangers have been having an incredible season so far and they would
Have a crazy game versus the Rival Philadelphia Flyers this game featured a classic rivalry with some heated moments incredible goals and a very thrilling ending more so than even the crazy moments it’s important to understand the context of this game especially with the playoffs around the corner first let me
Talk about what this game meant to the Flyers well the Flyers entered last night holding on to that third place spot in the division they were just two points ahead of the Capitals in that division who held the second wild card spot so they’re definitely feeling a lot
Of pressure so every game is that much more important to them down the stretch on the other hand this game also meant a lot to the Rangers who were holding on to the best division record and League record and entering this game the Rangers were looking to become the first
Team this season to reach 100 points and become the first team to clinch a playoff spot if they could win this game so the Rangers were looking to hit two major milestones in the same game so this game was very important not to mention as we near the end of the season
The president’s trophy race is definitely heating up and before this night of NHL games this was the first time in NHL history that the top seven teams have been separated by one point after each has completed at least 85% of its schedule in other words we have
Never seen this many teams this late into the season this competitive for the number one spot every game and especially every Point has massive playoff seating implications now I know many fans believe in the president’s trophy curse so they aren’t that concerned about winning the president’s trophy especially after what happened
With last year’s Boston brunes but I still think you just have to focus on winning as many games as possible and to think on the positive the last time the Rangers won the Cup in 1994 they were also president’s Trophy winners so that’s a positive way of looking at it
Now to get into this Wild game I must admit the first portion especially the first period didn’t have a lot of fireworks and for much of the first period it looked like the Flyers were actually dominating this game and the best opportunity on goal in this first
Period was by the Flyers only to be denied by shurkin at the end of the period the Flyers had a 15 to9 shots on goal Advantage however the game Still Remains scoreless now after witnessing one period of play if you thought this game would be low scoring you would be
Incredibly wrong as just a couple of minutes into the second period the Flyers Trav conne would dish the perfect pass on the right side to an open Scott Lon who would bury the first goal of the game after a beautiful shot then about halfway through the second the Flyers
Would get a power play after a tripping call looking to capitalize and while on the power play lson would send a beautiful pass to Ryan Palin who would tip it home giving Philadelphia a two to nothing lead things at this point were not looking good for the Rangers it
Seemed like the Flyers had all of the momentum and the Rangers would need a little bit of help to dig out of this rut now the Rangers would get a much needed break only a few minutes later at the 5-minute Mark when they would get a power play from a high sticking penalty
And while on the power play Zan Jed would net a short side shot bringing the game within one goal and giving them some much needed life now an interesting thing about this goal is panan registered an assist on this goal making this his 100th point of the season now I
Did want to take a brief moment to talk about just how good Panera has been this entire season because he currently sits top five in total points this season sixth in both goal go and assists this season panan actually entered this game RedHot he had 12 goals 19 assists and 31
Total points in his previous 18 games including a hatrick recently against the Boston brooms and two goals in his most recent game not only that but the bread man has 27 power play assists this season he is just filling up the stat sheet for this Rangers team showing how
Incredibly valuable he truly is and he wasn’t even done impacting this game now while this was a very crazy game it was still only two to after two periods most of the craziness would happen in the third period when it was just sheer scoring Mayhem entering the third period
The Rangers seem to have woken up since just over a minute into the period Johnny binski nodded the game up with a beautiful shot and then just a minute and a half after this with chaos in front of the Flyers net lafier hit the puck in putting the Rangers ahead 3 to2
And at this point the Rangers were rolling however the Flyers were able to saave off some of this momentum they were able to settle down again regroup and with just over 13 minutes left in the period the Flyers would get a two-on-one and conky would keep the puck
Firing it past to sturken for his 3st goal of the Season tying the game back up at three now a few minutes later the Rangers would be called for a high sticking penalty and it seemed like the Flyers had a great opportunity on the power play to pull ahead yet again
However while short-handed the Rangers would get a two-on one and Savannah Jed would pull off a beautiful move dishing it to tro for a tap and goal just a beautiful play pulling the Rangers ahead 4 to three but this lead wouldn’t last for long because the Flyers would dish a
Great pass to Owen tippet who on the Breakaway would backhand a goal off the post evening the score yet again at 4 to4 and the wild part about this game is the craziness was definitely not done yet because not long after this after a face off in the flyer Zone panan shot
Would get blocked and in the chaos lafranier fired in the puck for a second of the game pulling the Rangers ahead 5 to four but yet the scoring wasn’t even done yet because after some chaos in front of of the Rangers net and a pile up in the crease forestar would score
The game time goal at 5 to5 this would be the seventh goal of the period leaving only a few minutes left in regulation despite all of these goals overtime was needed to settle this game however barely even 30 seconds into overtime Rangers Adam Fox would have a beautiful shot winning the game in
