Saturday 19th July 11.30 – 4pm
Our Annual Summer Picnic is next week – Have you got your ticket yet?
We’re hoping for another chilled out Summer Skate Day this year – There’s plenty of time to skate, chat, picnic and maybe even sunbathe (weather permitting!) at the Cycle track at Bodington Fields.
This space, with a mile of smooth, all weather tarmac, has a flatter section and a hill section to skate on.
We will hold a number of short workshops throughout the event that are free to attend, including:
-
Hill confidence
-
Hill skating for more confident skaters
-
Slalom skills + slalom skills area
-
Distance skating – get your marathon distance in!
Wear your brights and bring flags, ribbons and streamers to wave as part of our skate parade!Â
Smooth, all-weather tarmac (though the Yorkshire sun dance we did last year worked, this event will still go ahead if it rains) with lots of grass to picnic on.Â
RAFFLE & FANCY DRESS COMPETITION
*Matchy matchy (interpret as you will)
*Least Practical Skate Outfit
The track is one mile of super smooth tarmac.Â
The Skate Sanctuary will have a stall open so you can buy skate goodies and the coaching team will put on a few mini workshops around the track
Please bring a picnic and use the grass in the centre of the loop as the main picnic area.
Help us keep the site tidy by taking your rubbish with you when you leave.
Will there be food for sale?
Bodington main reception sell some hot drinks and ice cream, please bring all your own picnic. Food stalls are not allowed as part of our event.
What happens if it rains?
Our event will go ahead even if it rains. Â Experience has taught us that it tends to be showery… so do pack that waterproof! Â The track is a high grade of tarmac and we are able to continue to skate unless it is hurricane conditions.
Should we have to cancel the event due to poor weather, we will refund you the cost of your tickets, but are unable to refund any further costs you may incur.
A car park is available at the venue, however spaces are limited. Â Please ride share, use public or human powered transport to get to the venue if possible.
Please do not park on the residential roads around the venue.Â
If the car park is full please use the Lawnswood cemetery carpark nearby as an overflow car park and walk to Bodington from there – the address is  Lawnswood cemetery, Otley Rd, Adel, Leeds LS16 6AH
Please note that helmets are mandatory on this facility, this is Bodington’s rules, not ours.Â
Any type of helmet is fine to wear, but please bring one.Â
If you wish to hire a helmet, please purchase a separate Protective Equipment hire ticket
Primary age children may bring a bike or scooter to use the track, with close parent supervision.Â
We will have a DJ playing music in the main event area by the loop. We suggest that headphones are not really in the spirit of the picnic, but understand that some folks may need to use headphones to reduce noise stimulation.
How do I collect my hire skates?
If you have pre-booked hire skates or safety equipment, these will be available to collect from the main event area near the loop.
