Hey there skater gang! Welcome to our re-launched newsletter 😊 We have so much to share with you!
What have we been up to?
What a busy few months the RGG team have had! You may have spotted Mel and Janey at the WOW (Women of the World) Barn Festival in Leeds earlier this month. They had a great time sharing our love of skating with the lovely folks who attended and getting to know some of the other fab businesses taking part!
Our new photo booth was launched at WOW. When will you have the chance to give our new photo booth a go?
If you’ve been attending our classes recently you may spotted that we now have a loyalty card!
You can now collect stamps at classes and our events, one stamp per person per class for 10% off any purchase (not in conjunction with other offers) in the shop 🙂 Just bring your completed card to the shop to redeem.
Mel has also been very busy getting to talk to skaters, listening and sharing their incredible stories. The variation in people’s skate journey’s is amazing to follow. If you’d like to catch up on the skater stories so far, head to the Roller Girl Gang YouTube or Instagram @roller_girl_gang.
Product Shout Outs
We’ve had some amazing products popping up in store, the Lucky Baby Blues Wifa RGG Custom build has to be our product of the month! Items selected and built by the amazing Sophie.
Sophie has opted for the Wifa Street Suede boots in turquoise, on blue Sunlite plates fitted with Moxi fundae wheels, Rookie bearings and Chaya Cherry Bomb toe stops. This custom set up has to be the perfect example of how the finishing touches really do affect the whole vibe of the skates! The Wifas white laces have been hand dyed in a pink ombre effect and the look has been completed with this super cute Lucky dice lace charm from our new collab with Fabrikk.
We’ve had restock of Gumball toe stops, our laces (including the very popular Red Core), socks and we’ve introduced Triple Eight Covert Knee and Elbow pads! The Moxi colour ways of the Covert pads are now available to pre-order and due to land in mid-June!
We are also introducing the vegan-friendly Chaya Melrose Elite skate in ‘Purple Evil’ to our collection. we were really gutted when we realised that Chaya’s Love is Love skate was limited addition as we know its so comfortable and has been really popular. We’re thrilled to be stocking an alternative. Let us know what you think when it arrives!
Finally though you may have spotted we now do a Slades pre-order monthly to make sure we can get your size and preferred colour in stock as soon as possible! We are now also offering the Slades Buddy Bag. Check it out below! It is currently a couple of weeks following the pre-order for Slades to arrive from France.

Upcoming Events
Skate ‘n’ Create Workshops @The Corn Exchange
As well as events that take place on skates, we love to get creative, try out new things and share experiences with you at the shop! We love seeing just how personal everyone’s style is, especially when it comes to their skate wardrobe. With this in mind we thought what better way to personalise your skate attire than with a Tie Dye Workshop right here at our Corn Exchange shop.
We’ll happily pre-wash one of our new ‘Hey There Skate Mate’ Tees for you or your can bring along your own t-shirts that you’d love to give a glow up 🙂 Maybe you’d like to do both! That’s cool too, you’ll be provided with enough materials to tie dye two items. Perfect for your non-skater pals to join in.
Summer Skate Events
As well as our usual classes and Friday Night Socials at the Ramgarhia Sikh Sports Centre, we have some awesome summer events coming up. We’re so exciting to have the opportunity to skate in different spaces and areas as the weather changes. The first of which will be the Solstice Roll out!
Our Solstice Roll Out has become a bit of an RGG tradition! This year it will be our 5th Solstice roll out! It’s an opportunity to explore and enjoy the city on the lightest day of the year. Last year was so much fun, the sense of community never ceases to amazing us!
If this is your first roll out 🙂 we’d recommend bringing a back pack with some trainers and water. You can skate as much or as little as works for you <3
As we head into July we will be having our first ever K-Pop Roller Disco!! This one of a kind event is the project of the lovely Laura from the Shop Gang! Laura has a love of all things Kawaii and K-Pop and has gone on to combine her passion with her Masters studies, culminating in this fantastic event. Please come along, meet Laura and the rest of the gang an evening of fun!
The Summer Skate Picnic at Bodington Fields is an event we look forward to all year. It is suitable for the whole family and this year we are also celebrating World Wide Roll Out Day, founded by Skate Fantacee in 2020.
With shop and skate team led workshops, a pop-up shop and a mile of high quality tarmac for skating, there is something for everyone. Even better, the track is still safe and non-slippery if it rains!
Finally, we are launching a virtual marathon that will run from June – September – because it is virtual, you can skate anywhere and record your distance to skate ‘around’ Leeds. We are putting the final touches to the website, so launching soon! More information about this coming in our next newsletter.
Thanks so much for all your support, whether you recommend us to friends and family, leave a review, share our posts and videos or shop and skate with us. We appreciate you! We are here to support your roller skate journey, so please tell us how we can do this better? Comment below or hit reply 🙂
