If you know us, you’ll know that we like videos from places that aren’t on everyone’s radar. Obat Quad, a roller skate crew from Indonesia, just released their first quad skate edit, titled Belaga Gila or Relentless. The crew’s goal was to document the journey of the park/street roller skate scene in Indonesia. “And just like the film’s title, Belaga Gila (literally translated as „acting crazy“), we didn’t give a damn about the quality, the standard of what a skate film should look like, as long as it can capture the joy in roller skating and the collective’s spirit,“ says one of the skaters, Pingkan. The footage was filmed in less than a week. It features 18 skaters in Indonesia: “This is our chance to show the scene on a broader level and be seen by audiences from places we had never been to before,“ Pingkan says.
