Parents were called after police were called to a late night Spring Break skating event some scary moments and this is a story we have been covering it’s developed throughout the morning a reporter Aaron ela beau is at great skate right now in Glendale she’s been talking to police and parents and irony
Sounds like it was a very scary moment and this was just supposed to be a kind of an all-night skate party yeah it was supposed to be some fun for kids on spring break but it was like you said a scary moment for kids but also for parents who actually were scrambling
Trying to get here early to pick their kids up after finding out that a fight broke out but I want to point out that what a difference just a few hours makes because right now great skate is open for business everything appears to be running smoothly but it was quite a different
Scene here just a few hours ago when this fight broke out and parents tell me it really ended and some kids getting pepper sprayed now this is some video that we received where it appears to show kids kind of scrambling on to the skating rink then if you look closely
You can see an officer kind of take a kid down on to the ground and try to keep him on the ground now meanwhile kids in that area or start moving towards that area but then suddenly scramble and run in the opposite direction screaming and huddling on the
Floor not sure just yet if that’s the time when pepper spray was actually sprayed but this was the chaotic scene here at the great skate in Glendale off of 43rd last night where last night they we’re hosting like this Spring Break the late-night skate event for kids and
Families supposed to happen or go on until 6 o’clock this or this morning but obviously this was broken up much earlier because of this fight now here’s what one kid I spoke to described or how he described things when his mother came to pick him up take a listen my friend
Got tased in the leg and his little sister’s like 10 or whatever and she got pepper sprayed her checking on her brother and then and then he got up to check on her and then the police pushed him now I was hoping this was a safe place for him for his Spring Break
And to be woken up in the middle of the night to see that you know that some fight or something had happened but I’m just glad to everybody’s safe and for those who got hurt I’m very sorry to hear that and speaking of those who got
Her police tell us that one person was taken to the hospital but is expected to be ok and that no one was arrested meanwhile I did head inside to the great skate to speak with management about what exactly went down here I’m told that I’ll need
To speak with a general manager who will not be in until tomorrow but again we will stay on top of this to find out what exactly happened here and how things got out of control that’s the latest here in Glendale I’m Erin LeBeau for Arizona’s family
