– It says, “Take shelter now in a basement or interior room “on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.” We all gotta head downstairs to the basement now. There’s a tornado. – I’m scared. To share with you our Camp Radio series, season one. Maya, will you introduce us to some of the funny characters in the show? – I sure will. We have me, Maya. Scoops. Jazzy. Brian. And Lou. – And what other cast interviews can we check out?
– So there’s Lizzie, PJ, and of course my cast interview. – You guys, I cannot tell you how excited we are to share this series with you. It’s gonna be big and we can’t wait to hear what you think about it. Okay, we just got a tornado warning alert. And so it says…
It sounds pretty serious. There’s a tornado in our area. It says, “Take shelter now in a basement or interior room “on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.” So, we all gotta head downstairs to the basement now. There’s a tornado. Maya, come on. Oh, go downstairs. Addy, where are you? – [Addy] Going.
(dog barking) – [Lucy] Sandy, come on. Gotta go downstairs. Let’s go. Come on. You gotta come too. Come on. Go downstairs. Go downstairs. There’s a tornado warning Colin. – I’m going to the basement. – Gotta go to the basement. – [Colin] Ah! I’m scary. – [Lucy] Did you get a tornado alert? – I did. You are just walking the– – Are we all safe and accounted for? – [Lucy] We’re all safe and accounted for. – Well that’s good. And, Sandy’s gonna stay upstairs and keep watch? – [Lucy] No she’s coming down. – She’s right here.
– [Lucy] Sandy, come on. I thought you came down. Sandy. Come on. Sandy. Got the emergency alert on my Apple watch too. It’s popping up everywhere. – Mommy, I’m scared. You said it sounded legit. – Hello? I just got a tornado warning. Phone number two. Okay, we got the phone warning as well. It must be pretty legit when we’re getting warnings everywhere. – We’re gonna die. – No Colin, you stay in here. Oh my gosh. – [Lucy] How are you feeling, Colin? – I’m scared. I’m scared.
I think we’re gonna die. – [Lucy] No, buddy. We’re gonna be safe. (Colin moaning) We are in the safest room in our house. – But there’s thunder and lightning too. – The safest room in our house just happens to be our playroom because the playroom is in our basement. There are no windows.
There are no doors that go to the exterior. So, this is always where we come whenever we have a tornado warning in our area. And then as a matter of fact, there have been many many nights where we have slept on this floor because usually tornado warnings tend to happen
In the middle of the night. So, this one happens to be in the day. But, we’ve spent lots of nights on this floor on pillow pads, waiting out tornado warnings. Jason’s our info guy. What are you finding out about the tornado? – Yes. So, the warning is for southwestern Davidson County,
Southeastern Dixon County, northwestern Williamson County, and south central Cheathum County. So, that includes us. – [Lucy] Wait. What did you? – I brought essentials. This should get us through the day. – [Lucy] You brought– – Three cubes of cheese. And a Zevia. – [Lucy] And a Zevia. So when you ran upstairs– – Cherry Cola Zevia. – [Lucy] That’s what you went for? (laughs) – Yes.
– Well, Sandy clearly wants the cheese. (laughs) Jason’s mom just called and she’s been watching the news as well and she’s kind of following the tornado track on TV and it looks like it’s about a half hour from here right now. So, I don’t know. I’m hoping it’s not moving in our direction. Do you know Jason?
Can you tell what direction it’s moving in or if it’s at all coming towards us? – Nope. No idea. Good luck with that. – Well that’s comforting. That’s real comforting. – Let me go outside and look. – No, don’t go outside and look. We’re feeling very fortunate now because not long ago
None of us were home. Addy, where were you? – I was at a horse show. – Yeah. So she’s been outdoors all day and I can’t imagine, I mean an open land area. That would not be safe. So, I’m so thankful. – With hundreds of horses. – Yes. So thankful she is home.
I just picked up Maya and our foster daughter from a theater camp in downtown Nashville. And Colin and Jason literally just walked in the door as the warnings came through getting home from kindergarten. So, I’m feeling very fortunate that we’ve all made it home before the warning hit. Colin, what did you find?
– I got some more food. – [Lucy] You have your lunchbox from school still? Do you have leftovers? – Uh huh. – [Lucy] Oh no, Colin. You gotta protect your sandwich. Gotta protect the uncrustable. Sandy’s gonna try to get it. She went up the stairs after that sandwich. – [Digital Assistant] The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning. – What did we just hear outside? – Thunder. Boom boom. – Boom boom. We heard some big thunder. It looks like the tornado warning area is slowly moving out of our region, which we’re very thankful for,
But it does look like a really severe thunderstorm is following it. So, there’s gonna be a lot of thunder and lightning which I’ll take over a tornado, for sure. Maya? – Yes. – [Lucy] What’s the one thing you went to grab before you ran down to the basement. – My iPad. – [Lucy] You girls are – Need some entertainment. – [Lucy] What did you grab Addy? – So, I brought my bag that I brought to the horse show ’cause it’s still– – [Lucy] Your tic tac toy bag. – Go buy it at www.tictactoystore.com.
‘Cause it was already packed with some stuff to entertain me for the wait at the horse show. And then I also brought my book cuz reading’s good for you. And it’s also really entertaining. – And I will add that Addy is a reading machine. And Jason? – Yes.
– [Lucy] Tell us. How’s the cheese stacked honey? – We’re down to one cube of cheese. So, this couldn’t have happened any sooner. So, thankfully we made it through. – We officially got the all clear. So, we are heading back upstairs. Don’t have to worry about the tornado anymore
But there are going to be a lot of really strong winds and thunder and lightning and storms. So, we still have to be careful but don’t need to hide out in the basement anymore. – [Lucy] Oh my goodness. This does not look good. – Oh my goodness. It’s so rainy. – Wow. Guys, I don’t know if we should be up here still. – Definitely not. – We came upstairs but it looks really scary. Guys, let’s go back downstairs. – [Maya] Guys, look. – Back downstairs, guys.
I don’t know if you can get the full effect of it but it is blowing like crazy. We need to go back downstairs. We’re back in the basement and I dunno if you could see but it is pretty dark outside. It’s only like 4:15 right now and it looks like the sun’s setting like at 6:30, 7 o’clock. So, this weather is definitely weird. – I’m going to call one of my barn friends
And she is staying with my instructor right now I think. I’m gonna call her and see if they’re out of the horse show because the horse show’s entirely outdoors. – [Lucy] And your poor horses. – I know. – [Lucy] I hope they’re okay too.
– I know. We have five horses at the show right now. And they’re all stuck in stalls. – [Lucy] What did you do Jason? – I went upstairs and I got more cheese. – [Lucy] Nothing else? – Yes, just cheese. We’re good. Don’t worry, guys. I got us covered. – [Lucy] So, how do you think all the horses are doing? – I think probably three fourths of them are freaking out right now. – [Lucy] Yeah, they’re just out in stalls. – Yep. Some people may have even left their horses out in the pastures. So, that’ll be interesting.
– [Lucy] Poor horses. – I’m assuming that since some of the horses at our barn had stalls in our barn, that some of the horses at our barn are going to be taken into the stalls that are empty at our barn right now. – Somebody wants cheese. Okay. I think we are officially good this time. So, there are officially no tornado warnings in our area, just severe thunderstorms. So, we’re gonna try venturing back upstairs again and hopefully we can stay up there for the night now. – Looks like the winds have stopped.
– [Lucy] Have we lost any trees, Maya? – Nope. – [Lucy] Not yet at least. Hopefully it stays that way. – Two are leaning, but those are far back in the woods. So we’re good. – We actually had big plans for this evening before the whole tornado thing happened. We were gonna boo our neighbors but I don’t think that’s gonna happen with the crazy weather we’re experiencing. What does it mean to boo our neighbors? – So, it’s basically this thing that our neighborhood does
And I’m pretty sure a lot of neighborhoods do it too. You basically put this banner package or whatever you want to together, with a bunch of Halloween stuff in it, and you basically set it onto someone’s doorstep, ring the doorbell and run away before they can see you.
And they have to guess who booed them. – Right. And once you’ve been booed you need to put a we’ve been booed sign on your door or your window. And then you boo other people. – Exactly. So, before Halloween all the houses in our neighborhood should have these
We’ve been booed stickers on their door which means we’ve all been given some fun Halloween treats. And we were really hoping to start for the neighborhood today, but that’s not gonna happen. But, we’re gonna at least show you what we have in our boo bins. What do we see in there?
– Uh. Kinder Joy. – [Lucy] We have, oh Colin’s favorite. Kinder Joy eggs. Yum. And then we’ve got some Funfetti cupcakes. I was trying to go with kind of a baking theme for our boo boxes so that whoever opens it gets to bake some fun Halloween cupcakes. – These are the toppings.
– [Lucy] The icing. That’s right. The frosting. Funfetti frosting. And we have candy decorations to put on top of your cupcake. That looks fun, doesn’t it? What else is in there Maya? – Muffin tins. – [Lucy] Not just any muffin tins but Halloween themed muffin tins. And we’ve got a Halloween table cloth
That kiddos can decorate. A cute little ghost light up. I think it needs batteries. Maybe I should put batteries in it. What else is in there? What’d you find, Colin? – Eyeball sticky gum. – [Lucy] Eyeball gummies. Those are so creepy looking. – And we have, stickers. – Since it is Halloween,
You’ve gotta have some good Halloween candy in there. – We have Twix, M&Ms, special Halloween napkins. – That’s right. Napkins and plates for the cupcakes. That’s right. Now we’ve gotta get our Halloween baskets put back together because even though we’re not gonna be able to deliver them this evening,
We’re hoping tomorrow will be the day. – I like M&Ms. – [Lucy] When we deliver these what is your strategy for not getting caught? – So, you run really fast up to the door. I think it’s easier to ring the doorbell cuz you don’t have to stand there knocking.
So you ring the doorbell, and then you run up really quickly. And if there’s a car you can hide behind, hide behind that. – When it comes to booing, the trick is to not drop anything as you’re running up. I try and work on not spilling stuff out of the buckets.
Run up really fast, ring the doorbell, and then just run back and try and find something to hide behind when they answer the door. – And the other tricky thing is I feel like so many people have Ring doorbells now with cameras
So, maybe we’re gonna have to put like masks on this year. – Yes. Let’s do that. – Or I don’t know, some type of disguise so that we really won’t get caught. Well, since we’re staying in for the night, Maya’s gonna be my dinner helper. And what festive dinner are we gonna have tonight? – Pumpkin and bat pasta. – Pumpkin and bat ravioli. Pretty cool. Very Halloweenie. I tend to get very excited about all sorts of seasonal festive food items.
So when I saw this pasta at Costco, I had to grab it. Oh, that reminds me, I have my cute chips too. I have my fall leaves chips too. It doesn’t really go with pasta but, maybe we can make it work somehow. Let’s show them my fall leaves chips. (laughs)
I am a sucker. I’m a sucker for fall leaf corn tortilla chips from Trader Joe’s. How does tortilla chips and pasta sound? – It sounds good. – [Lucy] You’re down for it? – Yeah. – Oh goodness. I’m in the middle of cooking and I got attacked by some crazy werewolf monster. What’s going on down here? Who is this? Who is this? I think Colin wants to show you his Halloween costume. Let us see it, buddy. You are one cool werewolf dude. Let me hear your werewolf noises. – [Lucy] Oh, that’s perfect. – And speaking of Halloween costumes, Addy and Maya, what are you guys gonna be for Halloween? – I’m going to be Katniss Everdeen from the very first “Hungry Games” movie. – I’m being Katniss too. – That’s right. Addy, like I told you, she is my reading machine
And she read all the “Hunger Games” videos this weekend. And– – [Addy] Books. – I’m sorry, read all the books. What did I say? Videos? – Mhm. I read those videos. – She read the videos. Addy has read all the “Hunger Games” books this summer and Maya, have you read them yet?
– No, but I started them. – She’s watched the movies. – She’s watched the movies, now. So we’ve got a werewolf boy, and two Katniss Everdeen’s and our sweet foster daughter’s gonna be… – A “Harry Potter” version, but a girl. – So if you wanna see us in our costumes for Halloween,
Make sure you follow us on Instagram @tictactoyfamily because I promise we will post some really cool Halloween photos in our costumes. – A werewolf. – I hear a werewolf. I hear a werewolf. Oh no, there he is. Ah, he’s coming for us. Ah. (laughs) Don’t get me. Don’t get me, werewolf. Ah, nooooo.
Thanks for watching today. And don’t forget to go to the Camp Radio channel and subscribe for our brand new series.
