Color as well as people in the LGBT plus Community because these groups have been hysterically marginalized and there’s no version or identity that a skater has to have skaters come in all shape sizes forms and identities we support all skate Styles roller skating longboarding roller derby ice hockey figure skating
Jam skating all wheels black girl skate is National we have board members in Chicago California Texas our team members are in Phoenix they’re in Philly they’re in New Jersey they’re in Georgia I would Define black girl skate as awesome one of the best resources that black girl skate offers people is our
Pop-up against the black girl skate pop-up tour is a seasonal event where we descend on a number of cities anywhere from six to ten cities so it’s like open skates people that attend our events are affiliated with black girls faith is being able to find local resources
Whether it’s training or you know the gear your your skates your boards your wheels everything we also do work with International organizations we’re based on social media we’re able to connect people from all different places it’s really important to have this community because I feel like when you see
Yourself represented in something you’re able to actually actualize the possibilities of what you may be able to do with it I was looking for a sense of community within within skating that I wasn’t able to find in my city and that’s how I stumbled upon black girl
Skate so one of the really cool things about black girls skate and the impact that it’s had on me I’ve been able to find skaters that I look up to I’ve been able to find tips and tricks I’ve been able to learn new things and connect
With new people and the feeling that I get when I’m skating is like it’s it’s like it feels a lot like life it’s like a kind of Freedom that I struggle to access in my day-to-day life we’ve seen children as young as two years old come
Out and hop on skates or skateboard and we’ve also seen people into their 60s come out and skate with us and if you don’t know how to skate or if you’re interested in skating we still want you to come out we encourage everyone to come out no matter your skate Styles all
Wheels are welcome all wheels are welcome and you’re pretty handy on the skates I played a little roller hockey in my day I can I can skate any kind ice roller not a good skateboarder though uh I can’t do any of it so you win there you’re getting other stuff
