MATTYDALE FOR TODAY’S Q AND A. MARY WANTS TO KNOW– WHAT’S BEING BUILT AT THE OLD ROLLER SKATING RINK OFF ROUTE 11? IT’S LITERALLY A MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION. THE TOWN OF SALINA TELLS ME IT PLANS TO BUILD A SIX MILLION DOLLAR COMMUNITY CENTER ON THIS SITE– WHERE SPORTS-O-RAMA ONCE STOOD. THE OLD ROLLER
SKATING RINK– NEAR BIG LOTS WAS TORN DOWN YEARS AGO. RIGHT NOW–THE LAND IS BEING PREPPED FOR CONSTRUCTION. THE TOWN SUPERVISOR SAYS THEY’RE HOPING TO FINALIZE DESIGN PLANS FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER NEXT MONTH AND START BUILDING NEXT YEAR–WITH THE GOAL OF COMPLETING IT BY THE END OF 20-24. THESE ARE RENDERINGS
THE TOWN HAS ONLINE- BUT I’M TOLD THEY WILL LIKELY CHANGE. THE SUPERVISOR SAYS THIS CENTER WILL HAVE A PLACE FOR SENIORS TO GATHER– A STUDY ROOM FOR TEENS– AND A COMMUNITY ROOM THAT CAN HOLD UP TO 300 PEOPLE. GROUPS WILL BE ABLE TO RENT OUT THAT LARGE ROOM. OUTSIDE–THERE’S A PLAN
FOR A PARK– WHERE THEY’RE HOPING TO HOST CONCERTS AND MOVIE NIGHTS. DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR THE YOUR STORIES TEAM? EMAIL US—YOUR STORIES AT LOCAL SYR DOT COM. WITH THE YOUR STORIES Q-AND-A — RYAN DEAN NEWSCHANNEL 9. JEFF: WE’RE KEEPING IT LOCAL
